My boyfriend wants to get married, but he is in prison and has a lot of court ordered fines to pay. Will a pre-nup protect me from being equally responsible for the fines? If I send him money in prison can they still take 55%?

@Matt – will you be living in Britain after the marriage? If so, you should have your prenuptial agreement drafted by a lawyer in Britain, not the US. If you will be living in both countries, it is a good idea to have two prenuptial agreements – one for each country.
Prenups are a joke, they don’t hold up in a court of law! Men get screwed either way! The courts are totaly against men!
I’m a 57 y/o wealthy man who lost the wife 20 yrs ago and raised my children alone. I’ve been single and not dated at all. I recently “ran into” a lady who I knew from high school. She seems to be the one. I love her, but she is going through a divorce, there’s a bankruptcy, a judgement/lien, jewelry in pawn, etc….she seems to be very upfront, but I did find out yesterday about the bankruptcy by myself. Sure, it does seem too good to be true, but I didn’t get where I did by turning a deaf ear to all opportunities. I would like to bail her out, but she’s not divorced yet. I’m unsure, especially about a prenup. Something is telling me to run, but I want to stay and fight the good fight for her, and me too.

Hello! I am a Russian citizen. I got K-1 (fiancee) visa and will enter USA soon (New York). According to the requirements of K-1 visa I must get married within 90 days. After that I can send documents for getting green-card. My husband (american citizen) must sign affidavit of support Form I-864. Under the form he creates a contract between him and US government that he must support me until I become a US citizen. The divorce does not terminate his obligation under the form. He prepared prenuptial agreement. How this contract will work in case of affidavit of support? He has real estate and a huge amount of money. I have only a small amount on deposit account in Russia. I am doing to stay home and raise our children several years. During that period I will try to prepare myself for a job in USA. I am an immigrant and I am not able to find a good job immediately and earn enough money. I need to attend courses and get certificate before. I can’t become integrated easily and quickly. How can I protect myself signing prenup?
I am marrying my same-sex partner in MA, and we live in Fl. I would like to change my last name to hers, considering I still have my ex-husband’s last name. My question is this: can I keep my CURRENT last name professionally, on my drivers license, social security card, etc and still change my last name to hers? It’s complicated, but I am a teacher and not ‘out’ at school, and my two children still have their dad’s last name, of course. I’m sure the question is, then why change it? And the reason is that I do want her last name since I am marrying her and because I want to EVENTUALLY make the change in all other areas. It’s cheaper and easier to do it when you get your marriage license, I understand, especially for same-sex couples. Help!

I am from Russia and married to wealthy man at 1999 in Nevada..He made me to sign a prenuptial agreement which is made to live me in zero,I did speak English and did not see Attorney before but only the same day He walk in room for signing the document..my husband just told me so everybody does prenup.before marriage and I trust him because I did loved him.When I sign document “my attorney”( Who I never see before and after)get up and left the room without signing a prenuptial.I do not understand why,but after several years I got it …My prenup.is made in very rude manner and he was not agree( so I think he was a good man).all this years I am abused from my Husband about money.He is not share anything whit me,I can not ask for $ 10 and everything is going to support his former family.I see that He is using me like a home care person to clean,cook,he is rude and enjoys to rule me and underline that he has money and I am nobody even if I have a masters degree.
